Some people believe this is a myth others believe it is true. Just because something is imported does not mean that are dependent on it that we can't survive without it. Just because it comes from a third-world country does not mean it is higher in price. The truth is that lowering the price on labor, land, and regulatory compliance would help lower the prices because it would bring up supplies. Those three things actually cost more in the United States than in any third-world country.
Currently the United States consumes 25% percent of the world's oil while only possessing 3% of world oil reserves. The Muslim world possesses 75% of the world's oil reserves. As the U.S. continues to invest in the oil economies of the Middle East and the Muslim world. These economies use their oil revenue to spread radical Islam, promote anti-Semitic and anti-American ideas, and develop unconventional weapons.
The high rising demand for oil means that the disruption of petroleum production causes oil prices to rise. People are believing that an invasion of Saudi Arabia will resolve the oil problem. People don't look at the situation with Iraq. The same thing could happen with Saudi Arabia. The U.S. has to get serious about reducing the demand for foreign oil by using biomass and coal. The U.S. has 25% of the world's coal and billions of tons of biomass. Almost 60% of the trash that Americans throw out can be used as biomass.
We can use many different ways to power our needs of transportation. For example an electric engine can go up to 20-40 miles before it has to recharge and it will have a regular engine so that you don't run out of power when you really need it. Other fuels such as ethanol and methanol can also be used to power a vehicle. Flexible fuel vehicles can run on a mixture of alcohol and gasoline to reduce the over all use and need of oil.
